It's getting crowded: Construction cranes on One World Trade Center intrude. By 2014, an 80-story hotel/residential tower is slated to open directly behind the Woolworth Building. Broadway Chambers Building is designed in the classical base-shaft-capital configuration. The building's crown is of colorful terra cotta. Viewed from the Brooklyn Bridge. The building was owned for a while by Pace University. It is now residential, except for ground floor retail space. The four monumental statues are by J. Massey Rhind and represent four aspects of commerce, according to the NYC Landmarks Presrvation Commission. Robertson used horizontal bands to try to de-emphasize the building's height. The towers were once used as observatories - now they are designated triplex apartments.
